Light My Way

Meditate on this verse this week in whatever way works best for you. (See this post for a few suggestions.) Then come back to this post and leave a comment telling us what you learned from it. I’ll do the same. See you then!

  1. Yes, I’ve been crazy-busy, so I’m really late on this, but here are a couple of thoughts. First, I love that she is “clothed” with strength and dignity. Clothing means they are not her skin, they are not born with her. And when you consider that the New Testament tells us we are clothed with the righteousness of Christ and that we are to “put on” Christ, we see where this clothing of strength and dignity comes from. Not herself, but Jesus. I’m so glad He clothes me with strength and dignity! Second is thought of smiling at the future. Another translation says, “she laughs without fear of the future.” That made me think of the old pagan idea that when a mere mortal is too happy the gods would step in and mess up their lives. So this phrase of smiling or laughing at the future made me realize that we serve a God who desires us to smile and to laugh–and not to fear the future, whatever may come, for we are clothed in Him.
