So Glad to be Home

My husband and I have been on the road 23 of the past 37 days. That’s roughly 3 of the past 5 weeks. The trips were a combination of business events and family visits and they were all good. But being gone from home that long is, in end, exhausting. Even though I loved never having to cook dinner or do dishes. Even though it meant I was with my husband more than when we are at home. Even though it meant being able to write without some of my normal distractions.

The truth is, I like being home. I like routine and schedule and knowing what comes next. I like being able to sit in my comfy chairs while I write and choose from more than a handful of clothes each morning. I like having friends and family nearby.

As I evaluate these weeks of travel, though, what amazes me most is the faithfulness of God, even in our exhaustion. I certainly don’t want to embark on such a marathon again anytime in the near future, but I can say that through these weeks my faith has grown. I know that even in usual circumstances, God remains, loving me, teaching me, using me for His glory.

  1. Wow that’s a lot of traveling! I bet it’s incredibly nice to sleep in your own bed again. Love your last line. In many ways, I feel like my whole past year has been one of unusual circumstances…at least unusual for me. But you’re right…God is loving me and teaching me and, I hope, using me for His glory even in the whirlwind of life.

    • Yes it was awesome to get back to my bed! Still trying to catch up on things, though. And I’m starting to think that life never stops being a whirlwind, so hang on for the ride! 🙂
