Tiffany Girl by Deeanne Gist

What better way to start off a new year than finishing a great book?

I confess, it has been several years since I read a Deeanne Gist novel. Not that I haven’t liked her stories in the past, but they’ve gotten crowded out of my reading by other things. However, last May I heard Dee talk about this book and knew I wanted to read it. And while it took me awhile to get to it, I was not disappointed when I did. In fact, I was completely captivated!

Tiffany Girl by Deeanne GistFirst, while Dee has made a name as romance writer, I felt this book tended more toward a historical than historical romance. And while I love a good romance, historical or contemporary, the genre of my heart is historical, so this book thrilled me to my toes. Tiffany Girl combines fascinating historical detail about so many things–the New Woman, Tiffany and his stained glass creations, the World’s Fair, boardinghouses, ice skating and more–with delightful characters and a compelling story. And it was LONG! Who doesn’t love a good, long historical novel? (Ok, there are people who don’t, but I’m not counting them.) If you enjoy historicals, I highly recommend this one.

So what about you? Have you read Tiffany Girl? What did you think? What historical novel have you read and loved lately?
